Because today’s boats are different than what we used years ago; they are longer, heavier, higher and have windshields. These boats create more surface area for the wind to catch, thereby needing to have a larger drift bag or sea anchor.

Drift bag sizes have not changed over the years, making them quite ineffective in producing the desired results. You can’t use a 50 hp motor on a 21’ fiberglass boat or try to troll with an ultra light rod and real. This goes for sea anchors or drift bags as well. Using a 5 gallon pail in your 20’ boat or a drift bag that’s too small has the same result. You need a bigger drift bag!
